Report of the International Conference / International Marketplace / Law Society of England and Wales / London / November 24, 2009
On November 24, 2009, the Law Society's International Division hosted its second annual International Marketplace conference, with a day and evening devoted to the celebration and development of future excellence and innovation in international legal practice and business. The title of the conference was « Future-proof your law firm for a globalised world: new approaches, new challenges ». (Download brochure).
Delegates spent the morning listening to experts discussing key global issues which affect international legal practices and their clients, and the afternoon was devoted to practical breakout sessions focusing in more detail on some of the key business development innovations, international trends and themes as well as new challenges and opportunities.
UNIDA was present at the conference. Mr. Jean Alain Penda Matipe opened the afternoon session titled « Beyond the Emerging Markets: the next wave » where he discussed on Francophone Africa and the OHADA Harmonisation of Business Laws. (Download presentation).
Books and leaflets on OHADA were massively disseminated at the conference due to the interest of the assistants. Forthcoming events organized by the International Division of the Law Society of England and Wales will cooperate with UNIDA for the sensitisation of OHADA in the United Kingdom.
