OHADAC / Primera Misión conjunta caribeña en Santa Lucía, del 9 al 11 de febrero
ACP Legal representatives from the Dominican Republic, the French Departments of the Americas and St. Lucia traveled for the first time together to St. Lucia, home of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), from 9 to February 11. Their program allowed meetings with the legal community, especially Lydia V ELLIOT, Barrister-at-Law, Solicitor and Notary Royal, legal advisor to the OECS and CARICOM, with the President of the St. Lucia Bar Association, Andie G. GEORGE llb. (Hons), with the business community and government officials under the auspices of Mrs. Yvonne AGARD of the St. Lucia Coalition of Services Industries (SLCSI), -the local business community-, and finally political meetings at the Secretariat General of the OECS, with Ms. Virginia PAUL Director of Trade, and a private audience at the Palace of the Governor General of Saint Lucia, by the representative of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Dame Louisy PEARLETTE.
This visit helped to strengthen the central role to be played by the OECS and St. Lucia in particular, for the OHADAC development, to harmonize the business law in the Caribbean, through the example of a peaceful coexistence between Civil and Common Laws, by the remarkable political, economic and legal integration of the 9 countries members of the Organisation and by the desperate need for an appropriate regional Court of Arbitration dedicated to small and medium enterprises wishing to export and to secure their investments in the region.
