Following the luncheon seminar organized by the American Society of International Law (ASIL) and the Institut International de Droit d'Expression et d'Inspiration Françaises (IDEF) held at Washington, DC, on October, 13th 2010 (See the newsletter of Sept. 22, 2010), IDEF has been invited to present a paper during the 105th ASIL Annual Meeting which will take place at the Ritz Carlton, Washington DC, 23-26 March 2011. The delegation of IDEF will be led by professor Barthélemy Mercadal, (vice-president), accompanied by Corinne Boismain and Jimmy Kodo, all coauthors of te IDEF's Annotated OHADA Code. Ms Boismain will deliver a speech during the panel disussion “Legal Origins, Doing Business and Rule of Law Indicators: The Economic Evaluation of Legal Systems”, of which Renaud Beacuchard (Esq.) will be the moderator. The full agenda of this event can be viewed on the website of ASIL: http://www.asil.org/am11/program.cfm On Monday, March 28th, the delegation will hold two conferences at Howard and Georges Washington Universities, with the presence of His Honor Justice Antoine J. Oliveira, President of the Common Court of Justice and Arbitration of OHADA, Ms. Kékéli Kodjo, Mr. Felix Leno, and Mr. Christopher Nyinevi, representatives of the Foundation for a Unified Business Law (FUBLA). Recent developments of OHADA will be presented at Howard, wit a focus on similarities between the Uniform Commercial Code, the CISG (Vienna Convention on Sales of Goods) and the Uniform Act on general Commercial Law through comparison of cases. Jimmy Kodo will give the speech "Convergence of Common Law and Civil Law on the Basis of African Business Law" at Georges Washington University. It will be the opportunity to highlight recent trends in the OHADA-like “Organization for the Harmonization of Business Law in the Carribean” (OHADAC).
