We have the honour to announce the International Conference on Accounting and Finance in Africa under the theme “Accounting, Finance, Governance and Development in Africa: Issues and Challenges” taking place on 7th - 9th September 2011 at Alisa Hotel, Accra-Ghana. The co-organisers of the conference are the Departments of Accounting and Finance of the University of Ghana (Ghana), and the University of Birmingham (United Kingdom). The first of its kind in Africa, the conference aims to bring together key experts on Accounting and Finance from many countries around the world, established researchers, early career researchers, graduate students, policy makers, professional bodies and practitioners to debate the role of accounting and finance in governance and development in Africa. The conference will include a special session on Accounting and Auditing in the OHADA Treaty States. Dr. Charles Elad from the University of Westminster in London will give a plenary presentation on the OHADA Uniform Act on Accounting. The conference is also an opportunity to launch the African Accounting and Finance Association (AAFA). We all hope that AAFA will help advance knowledge and understanding of education, research and practice in all areas of accounting and finance in Africa. Sponsors of this event include UNIDA-OHADA.com (the African Association for a Unified System of Business Laws), a long-time supporter of OHADA, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, and Emerald.
