Report of the 1st African Accounting and Finance Conference, held in Accra-Ghana, Alisa Hotel from the 7-9 September 2011

Dr. Charles Elad of the University of Westminster in London made a special presentation on the OHADA accounting system at the 1st African Accounting and Finance conference which was held in Accra, Ghana, on 7th - 9th September 2011.
Dr. Elad's presentation was based on a book he is writing on this topic which is scheduled for publication in 2012.
The conference brought together over 200 participants including representatives of professional accountancy bodies, accounting practitioners, doctoral students, early career researchers and established scholars from many countries: Benin, Ethiopia, Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Mauritius, Australia, India, Japan, UK and the USA.
The conference addressed a broad range of issues relating to accounting, finance, governance and development in Africa.
Sponsors of this event were: Toyota, Trust Bank Ltd, Emerald, UNIDA-OHADA.com, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, China Europe International Business School, University of Birmingham, and the University of Ghana.
The African Accounting and Finance Association (AAFA) was formed during this conference. The AAFA 2012 conference will be held on September 5-7 2012 at the Nicon Luxury Hotel in Abuja, Nigeria.
