OHADA Participates at the International Congress on Arbitration in Marrakech
Marrakech, Morocco, from October 12 to 14, 2017
As part of its activities to disseminate and promote the OHADA law in the Kingdom of Morocco, the Permanent Secretariat of OHADA participated at the International Congress on Arbitration which took place from 12 to 14 October 2017 in Marrakech, Hotel les Jardins of Agdal (Kingdom of Morocco). OHADA was represented at this important congress by its Director of Legal Affairs Dr Boubacar Sidiki DIARRAH, representing the Permanent Secretary of the Organization, Professor Dorothé Cossi SOSSA.
Organized by the International Court of Arbitration and Mediation of Commercial Disputes, this important scientific event witnessed the participation of more than sixty people including the President of the Arab Bar, Abdellah DERMICH, the President of the International Court of Arbitration and Mediation of Commercial Disputes and Chair of the Marrakech International Congress on Arbitration, Dr. Mohamed ELAOUAD, Lawyers, Notaries, Bankers, Judicial Experts, Business firms and economic operators from Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria and Morocco.
The main theme of the Congress was “International Arbitration in Investment and International Trade”.
In his statement, the representative of OHADA made a general presentation of the Organization, highlighting the strengths of its legal system, and especially those of its arbitration system.
On the sidelines of this event, a declaration for the creation of an African Union of Arbitration Centers was signed.
The Marrakech International Congress increased the visibility of OHADA in the Kingdom of Morocco and some Arab countries. The Permanent Secretary thanks the organizers of this event for inviting OHADA, which testifies to the growing interest of Moroccan legal professionals and actors of the business world in our common Organization.
