Grand-Bassam (Côte d'Ivoire), 4 - 9 December 2017
Since December 4, 2017, the seaside town of Grand-Bassam (Côte d'Ivoire) has been hosting a multi-thematic workshop for accounting and auditing professionals from the OHADA Member States. Participants include representatives of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC), the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) and the Pan African Federation of Accountants (PAFA).
Top on the agenda of the meeting are exchanges on Regulation No. 01/2017 / CM / OHADA of 09 June 2017 harmonizing the practices of accounting and auditing professionals in the Member States of OHADA. The appropriation of implementation guides on professional norms, the code of ethics for accounting professionals and the quality assurance manual also feature on the agenda. In addition, there is an important focus on the consideration of the report of study on the establishment of a Chartered accounting diploma in the OHADA space.
In the wake of the multi-thematic workshop, there will be a meeting of the OHADA's Accounting Standardization Commission (OSC-OHADA). Set up by Regulation No. 002/2009 / CM / OHADA of 22 May 2009 as a technical support body to the Permanent Secretariat for the elaboration, interpretation, harmonization and updating of accounting standards in the Member States, the OSC-OHADA is competent to develop the tools necessary to harmonize the practices of accounting and auditing professionals in OHADA Member States.
The Permanent Secretary, who takes part in the workshop, welcomes the holding of these meetings, financed by the World Bank Group. The Grand-Bassam workshop gives the opportunity to further prepare for the entry into force of the new OHADA accounting framework. Adopted on January 26, 2017 in Brazzaville (Congo), the Uniform Act on Accounting Law and Financial Reporting and the new OHADA accounting system which is annexed to it will enter into force on January 1, 2018 for the entities' individual accounts, and January 1, 2019 for consolidated accounts, combined accounts and financial statements presented in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
