A Conference - Debate at OHADA's Permanent Secretariat on the occasion of the International Women's Day

To celebrate the international women's day, the library of OHADA's Permanent Secretariat in Yaoundé (Cameroon) hosted a conference-debate on the theme: “women's entrepreneurship, informal sector and legal certainty”. Organized by the female workers of OHADA's Permanent Secretariat, this conference was moderated by a specialist in business law, a chief clerk, a representative of tax department and a representative of the National Social Security Fund (CNPS).
Women associations, economic operators, students and the staff of OHADA Permanent Secretariat attended the conference. In her opening address, the women representative of OHADA's Permanent Secretariat, Mrs Marie Sophie Dibounje Madiba thanked the participants for their availability and expressed the recognition of the women of the Permanent Secretariat to the Permanent Secretary of OHADA for his authorization and support for the success of the event.
In his opening address, Dr Boubacar Sidiki DIARRAH, representative of Prof. Dorothé Cossi SOSSA, the OHADA Permanent Secretary, expressed the Institution's gratitude to the participants. He recalled the historical context and scope of the international women's day, which he perceives as an opportunity to assess women situation in the society and to improve their condition.
Speaking on the main theme of the conference, the representative of OHADA Permanent Secretary, stressed that the real significance of the status of petty trader is that it is in line with the context of our economies marked by a strong informal sector. It is a genuine tool of steering public policies in order to reduce precariousness, fight poverty and promote economic growth that respects the needs of human development.
Four main themes were discussed by the speakers mainly:
- “the legislation put in place by OHADA for the informal sector actors”;
- “the legal formalities prescribed the RCCM”;
- “tax administration and informal sector company”;
- “voluntary insurance and the informal sector”.
The Permanent Secretary thanks the women of the Permanent Secretariat for the successful organization of this conference and wishes them all a good celebration.
