The ACP Legal association for the promotion of the OHADAC project of Harmonization of Business Law in the Caribbean is pleased to inform that our friend, Dr. Román J. Duque-Corredor has been appointed President of the Board of directors, 2009-2010, of the very prestigious Academy of Political and Social Sciences of Venezuela. Elected the 21st of March of 2000, Dr. Román J. Duque-Corredor got up to the Academy the 9th of November of 2001, after a Speech of Incorporation on “Reform of the State, the redefinition of the jurisdictional function and the system of justice", and now assumes its Presidency. The Academy of Political and Social Sciences was created by Law the 16th of June of 1915, and consists of 35 members selected between lawyers or doctors of Political Sciences or Venezuelan expert. It is located in the historical downtown of Caracas, not very far from the house of the Liberator, Simon Bolivar, in the Palace of the Academies, old headquarters of the illustrious Central University of Venezuela. The objectives of the organization include its cooperation in improving the Venezuelan legislation, writing up and review the Projects of Codes introduced by the Federal Executive of Venezuela, establish international relations with organizations of equal nature worldwide. In this scope, ACP Legal invite the Academy in participating in the creation of its Venezuelan Chapter and in contributing with its knowledge and experience to the project of harmonization of the business law between our Caribbean nations.
