Participation of OHADA at the Council Meeting on General Affairs and Policy of the Hague Conference on Private International Law
From 24 to 26 March 2015, Members of the Hague Conference met at The Hague on the occasion of the Council Meeting on General Affairs and Policy. OHADA was invited at this important meeting, which set a record participation of 16 intergovernmental organizations and non-governmental organizations.
On this occasion, Prof. Dorothé C. SOSSA, Permanent Secretary of OHADA, highlighted the progress made by the Organization in the area of business law including the unification of laws in seventeen African countries. He stressed the importance for investors, litigants, law professionals and governments to have clear rules that are known to all and are regularly updated.
The clarity of legal norms, made possible by OHADA, was again emphasized by the International Union of Judicial Officers (UIHJ), which also pointed out that the uniqueness of legal rules on execution heavily favored its presence in the African continent and boosted the exchange between execution professionals.
The participation of OHADA at this meeting is in line with the exchange between the Organization and the Hague Conference on issues of common interest to strengthen legal security.
