OHADA Days in Washington (17 and 18 September 2015)
In partnership with the World Bank Group, OHADA held information and exchange days for business actors, law professionals and diplomats at the headquarters of this international financial institution based in Washington DC, on 17 and 18 September 2015.
On this occasion, His Excellency Gnénéma Mamadou COULIBALY, Minister of Justice, Human Rights and Civil Liberties of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire and Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of OHADA presented the Organization, its major achievements in 22 years of existence as well as the key challenges.
Professor Dorothé Cossi SOSSA, Permanent Secretary of OHADA, completed this general presentation with an overview of the various uniform acts that make up the OHADA normative system.
Mr. Alain TRAORE and Mr. Jacques Jonathan NYEMB highlighted the key innovations of the revised Uniform Acts relating to general commercial law, securities, commercial companies and economic interest group, as well as the Uniform Act on collective proceedings for the wiping-off debts, while Mr. Ousmane KOLIE, Fily SISSOKO and Yvan ROUSSIGNOL dwelled on the stakes of harmonizing the laws, practices and accounting rules. The above presentations gave rise to exchanges, including by videoconference, and highlighted the strengths and opportunities of the OHADA space as a trusted destination for investors.
Individual or thematic meetings were held on the sidelines of the works, after which the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers thanked the World Bank Group. He also hailed the exemplary cooperation with OHADA within the framework of the Project for the Improvement of Investment Climate (PACI) and called for the intensification and diversification of the Bank's support to the Organization.
