The Association for the Promotion of Arbitration in Africa (APAA) was one of the official sponsors of the 23rd ICCA's Congress held in Mauritius, from 8-11 may 2016.
On May 10, 2016, APAA organized a breakfast discussion under the theme: “The development of Arbitration in Africa: Challenges and perspectives”. The discussion witnessed a high attendance of delegates from all the continents.
Held for the first time in Africa, the 23rd ICCA's Congress was an opportunity to emphasize on the necessary connection between the rule of law and development, as well as the urgency for Africans to be involved in the globalization of Arbitration.
APAA hopes that African delegates will benefit from the best practices, and teachings discussed at the Congress, for a better promotion of arbitration and alternative disputes resolution in Africa.
Determined to deliver on its objectives, APAA will pursue its efforts at re-establishing the culture of arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution, which are essential components of the rule of law and indispensable for the development of Africa.
