Appropriation Campaign of the new Uniform Act relating to the Accounting Law and Financial Reporting: Level 1 training is over

photo6After N'Djamena in the Republic of Chad, the city of Abidjan, economic capital of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire welcomed from 26 to 28 April 2017 a sub-regional training workshop for the training of trainers on the Uniform Act relating to the Accounting Law and Financial Reporting (AUDCIF).

photo7Participants included expert accountants, tax inspectors and lecturers specialized in accounting and management sciences from Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo. The workshop was opened by Mr. Antoine MIMBA, Technical Advisor representing H.E. the Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire and the activities were conducted in the presence of Prof. Dorothé C. SOSSA, Permanent Secretary of OHADA. On the sidelines of the event, the Permanent Secretary, symbolically, handed to H.E Adama KONE, Minister of economy and Finance of Côte d'Ivoire, a copy of the Official Gazette containing the Uniform Act on Accounting Law and Financial Reporting.

photo8This workshop organized for the West Africa sub-region, and that of N'Djamena, which covered the Central Africa sub-region and the Union of the Comoros marks the end of the first level of training dedicated to delegates from the 17 Member States of OHADA. Participants at these workshops were sufficiently equipped so as to continue the dissemination work in their respective countries with the objective to secure a progressive appropriation of and a smooth transition towards the new accounting system which is expected to enter into force on January 1st, 2018 for personal accounts of entities and on January 1st, 2019 for consolidated accounts, combined accounts and financial statements presented in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards(IFRS).

The Permanent Secretary reiterates its gratitude to the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire and the Republic of Chad for the facilities put in place for the holding of these two important sub-regional workshops, and renews his gratitude to the World Bank Group, which provided the entire funding.
